Several people have been seriously injured in an accident when two trucks were involved in a head-on collision along the Hoima-Kagadi Road.

 



 
A fuso truck registration number UBA 911C loaded with Matooke collided with a Canter truck which was moving in the opposite direction. Both vehicles veered off the road during the accident that happened last night.



 
The driver of the fuso truck vanished and the injured have been taken to Hoima regional referral hospital.



 
Julius Hakiza, the police spokesman for the Albertine region has said one person has been reported dead while several others are admitted in critical condition.




 

Museveni tours ICT exhibition

President Yoweri Museveni has directed all government agencies to do mandatory online procurement so as to reduce corruption.

He made these remarks after touring the ICT innovation exhibition at Nakawa, in Kampala on Tuesday.

Museveni also directed the incoming ICT minister Judith Nabakooba to ensure that government entities procure ICT solutions from local innovators instead of procuring ICT applications from outside Uganda yet there're local innovators in the country.

UEDCL posts good financial results

The Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited(UEDCL) has released its audited financial statement showing improvement in financial performance during the 9th annual general meeting at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development head office.

According to UEGCL Board Chairperson, Eng. Proscovia Margaret Njuki, the company made a profit of shs24.7b in this financial year. In addition, Njuki said, total assets increased from sh5.7 trillion in 2018 to sh6.8 trillion making the growth of 19%.
Because of sales of electricity following the commencement of commercial operations of the Isimba Hydro Power Station, turnover increased from sh8.2b in the financial year 2017/2018 to sh61.6b in 2018/2019. By Juliet Kasirye

Mao woos youth to join party leadership

 
The Democratic Party (DP) President Norbert Mao has called upon the youth to take on major positions in the party during the on-going delegates' election period. He said this during the DP weekly press briefing at their headquarters in Kampala.

Makerere School of public health construction kicks off

The groundbreaking of the construction of the Makerere University School of Public health has taken place.

The construction will take up to sh30b, but they currently have only sh6b. The sh6b will cater for the construction of the first phase as the fundraising for the entire project continues. By Shamim Saad
