Diplomats, cabinet ministers, business personalities and representatives of different agencies and organs of government gathered for the thanksgiving service
President Yoweri Museveni assured dignitaries at the national thanksgiving at State House, Entebbe, on Friday that the country would remain peaceful and stable.
The president said the country had addressed key challenges related to domestic production of essential commodities and instability that rocked the country three decades ago.
"Uganda will never be guarded UN. After the overthrow of Idi Amin, we moved to establish a disciplined army," he stated.
Clerics at the thanksgiving service made fervent calls for repentance, unity and peace ahead of the forthcoming 2021 general elections.
The outgoing Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stanley Ntagali decried selfishness and greed which he blamed for fueling corruption in Uganda.
Choirs and preachers from Anglican, Catholic, Muslim, Orthodox, Seventh Day Adventist, and Born Again faith led the congregation through prayer, hymns and songs of praise.
