Set on a cool and quiet area, Kisubi will provide a serene venue for next week's Association of Uganda University Games.

The University of Kisubi (UniK) has partnered with four other institutions on Kisubi hill to host the biggest university event.

Located a short distance away from some of Lake Victoria's best beaches, UniK is a perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of Kampala.

But the biggest secret of the venue of the 18th edition of the games lies not in the area's surroundings, but on Kisubi hill itself.

Well-set walkways through neatly cut greens in compounds sheltered with numerous trees give UniK, SMACK and St tranquillity.

Good boarding facilities await the 3000 students and officials that will descend on the area this weekend.

"Not only do we have more than enough space, but is also very secure with walls and CCTV," UNIK's Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Celestine Kakooza explained.

Male competitors will be housed at St Mary's College Kisubi while their female counterparts will be St. Savio Junior School. Officials will stay in UNIK's recently completed Notre Dame hostel.

UNIK is in itself not able to solely host the game hence its teaming up with SMACK , St Savio, St Joseph's Technical and Kisubi Seminary.

UNIK was established in 2004 by the Brothers of Christian Instruction as a Center of Uganda Martyrs University.

In 2009 it was made a constituent college of the university. In 2015 it received provisional accreditation to become a separate independent university. It held its third graduation ceremony in October 2018.

Kisubi is also rich in history.

Established in 1906 by the White Fathers, SMACK is not only one of oldest secondary schools in Uganda, it is also one of the best.

Also found on the same hill is the oldest basketball court in Uganda.
