EAC Secretary General excites students

Ambassador Mfumukeko said the campaign was aimed at creating new momentum towards regional integration and seeking views and opinions from the citizens on what they would wish to see the bloc do for them.

The Secretary-General of the East African Community (EAC), Ambassador Liberat Mfumukeko recently excited students who attended the launch of the ‘EAC I Deserve' campaign when he went on stage and danced together with the ululating youth.  

 
Performers from Tumaini University in Arusha, Tanzania put up an exciting performance, playing the audience's favorite songs. They performed Lingala as well as a variety of local Tanzanian music concluding several of Diamond Platnumz music, which lit up the evening at the EAC head office gardens.  


The students also dragged onto the stage Yufnalis Okubo, the registrar of the EA court of justice who was in the company of the Secretary-General and danced with him as they cheered.

 
The performances came after the launch of the ‘EAC I Deserve' campaign and intended to interest the youth into further debates on the EAC agenda.

Ambassador Mfumukeko said the campaign was aimed at creating new momentum towards regional integration and seeking views and opinions from the citizens on what they would wish to see the bloc do for them.

 
It targets reaching out to 10m citizens in the six nations and is part of the celebrations to mark 20 years since the revival of the EAC.

It will include social media interfaces as well as videos and animations competition for the youth. At least 30 winners will be selected and will share $25,000 (approx..sh92.1m) as prize cash.
