Senior four student drowns, a day to his last exam

A few hours to his last exam papers, Deo Kezaala, 16, drowned in Lake Victoria where he had gone to swim alongside a fellow student identified as Anthony Isingoma.
 
Kezaala and Isingoma were senior four students of Mapeera Secondary School in Kisubi Parish along Entebbe road in Wakiso district. The students allegedly escaped from school on Saturday to go to Katabi town.
 
"I received a call from my other son who studies from a nearby school informing me that Kezaala had been admitted in hospital," narrated Frank Magezi,the father of the drowned student.

"And when I drove to the school to get some answers, they first refused to open the gate for me until after almost thirty minutes of vigorous knocking on the school gate. After I was allowed in, they referred me to the Police for answers, as if I have been paying my child's school fees to the Police," added Magezi.

"His last two exams were to be written on Monday," intimated Nabukalu.

When contacted, Baker Kawonawo, the Entebbe Division Police Commander (DPC) said he was away from the station, and was yet to be briefed on the matter.
 
When New Vision visited the school, none of the staff was available for a comment. By press time, the student's body had not yet been recovered.
