Express Football Club failed to build on the away win over Wakiso Giants (3-0) over the weekend at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium in Wakiso as they surrendered a 2-1 lead at half time to draw 2-2 with Maroons in the early premier league action played at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Coach George Ssemwogere's charges took an early lead through Frank Kalanda who scored from a spot-kick after a handball incident in the Maroons box in the 16th minute.

The Wankuluku boys felt the 1-0 lead was not enough, and in the 30th minute, young striker Frank Ssenyondo doubled their lead by scoring the second goal.

Fred Amaku restored the Prison wardens' hopes of picking something from this game when he scored in the 47th minute of additional time to head into halftime on a 2-1 scoreline.

The second half was a complete atmosphere for the red eagles (Express FC) as they were subjected to pressing coupled with relentless attacking from Coach Douglas Bamweyana's side.

Indeed the attacking and pressing in the 55th minute yielded fruits after on form scoring striker Steven Mukwala scored the equaliser for Maroons.

After Mukwala's goal, both sides became shy on goal and the midafternoon contest ended in a 2-2 draw.

The result means that Express remains 6th on the log of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with 17 points from 13 games.

They have managed to win five, lost six and drawn two, they have scored a total of 20 goals and conceded 20 leaving them with no goal.

Bamweyana's side (Maroons FC) also stays seventh on the table, having collected 17 points from 11 games.

Their scoring rate is still low as they have managed to score 13 goals and conceded 15, leaving them with a debt of two goals (-2).

Today's showpiece was supposed to be played at Bet Way Muteesa II Stadium Wankukulu but due to the poor condition of the pitch, Uganda Premier League organizers decided to shift the game to FUFA technical centre.
