Ending Hunger: Everyone Of Us Has A Role Play

World Food Day is celebrated annually on 16 October to promote worldwide awareness of and action for those who suffer from hunger and advocate for food security and nutritious diets for all. Today, more than ever before, there is an urgent need for all key players and stakeholders to come together to critically analyze the drivers of food insecurity on the continent and in the world, and make bold steps to ensure nutritious food is available and accessible to our people.

Globally, over 820 million people go to bed hungry, a significant increase from 777 million people in 2016 which underscores the immense challenge of achieving the Zero Hunger target by 2030. Africa accounts for about 257 million hungry people. The East African region is responsible for about 31.4 percent of all those who are hungry in Africa, which is about 132 million people.
