Annette Nakiyaga also claimed her first career overall victory after she carded 38 points in the ladies category

Kilembe Mines Golf Club Habib Kisande returned 41 stable ford points to win the JBG Open at the Entebbe Club course on Saturday.

It was the first title in five years for the 24-year-old, handicap-6 golfer to win another major tournament since winning the Hima Open at his home club in 2014.

"First of all, I would like to thank Jonathan Roland who has financially supported me. He is the one man who has given me the courage to come up to this level. But I have been longing to win this championship and when I missed it last year, I went back to the drawing board," Kisande who notched 7 birdies noted.

"I managed to find my rhythm this time and remained confident, my putting was okay and I had four birdies in a row on the back-nine, so my game short game was on today and it made the difference.

"The Entebbe course plays like ours and it was in perfect condition and a little bit wet which favoured my game. I have been struggling, but with the support of Jonathan, I'm progressing well," Kisande who received full golf set for his victory stated.

Annette Nakiyaga also claimed her first career overall victory after she carded 38 points in the ladies category.

Earlier on Friday, professional golfer Richard Baguma had returned a closing round one-over-par72 for a total of 215 gross over the three rounds to win the pro's category.

Baguma reaped for his consistency over the 54 holes as he matched to his first overall professional victory, claiming the biggest share of sh20m prize money.

The UPDF private opened with one-over 72 that he followed with level par 71 before sealing it with another one-over 72 to beat his nearest challenger Deo Akope by two strokes.

"This is my first overall career win, but it didn't come easy because I had to dig deep and fight for it. I was chasing six strokes going into the last round but I played well and won," Baguma said.

The professionals are now battling in the Pepsi Independence tournament at the Palm Valley Golf and Country Club, Kakungulu Estate, where another sh30m is up for grabs.
