Ssebuguzi survives cockpit fire

It remains to be seen how much the incident affected preparations for the Kabalega Rally due in October
The crew of driver Ronald Ssebuguzi and navigator Leon Ssenyange had a lucky escape on Saturday during the Ambulance Fundraising Sprint at the Victoria Racetrack in Garuga.
While paired with Yasin Nasser, Ssebuguzi's Mitsubishi Evo10 caught fire, but fortunately, they stopped the car and evacuated the car as safety marshals quickly put out the fire.
It remains to be seen how much the incident affected Ssebuguzi's preparations for the Total Kabalega Rally that is due next month October 17-20 in Hoima.
"It seems we had a fuel leakage somewhere in the car. The mechanics will tell us that later, but we thank God we are all safe," Ssebuguzi said.
"However, it is a big setback in our preparations for the Kabalega Rally because we have to look for more money to fix what has been damaged in two weeks' time," he explained.
During the same event, Rajiv Ruparelia rolled and damaged his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo10, while Ponsiano Lwakataka broke a drive shaft.
The event was won by Nasser navigated by Ali Katumba in a Subaru GVB, while Arthur Blick Jr and Christakis Fitidis both in a Mitsubishi Evo10 finished second and third respectively.
Tendo Mutale the president of Enduro, the organising club, thanked the fans who turned up to contribute towards the noble cause of buying an ambulance.
