Hospital stuck with body of accident victim

Authorities at Iganga Main Hospital are stuck with a body of a woman who died in a road accident at Bukonte village,35 kilometers along the Iganga - Mbale highway on Sunday.
 
The woman probably in her early thirties perished in the accident after a taxi that she was traveling was knocked by a speeding Y.Y coach that was heading to Mbale.
 
The body of the deceased woman of brown complexion is dressed in a blue pair of jeans trousers and a white blouse.
 
According to a mortuary attendant who preferred anonymity the deceased is suspected to have been robbed of all her belongings including identification documents by people who rushed to the scene immediately after the accident occurred.
 
The Iganga Hospital administrator Ramathan Mugolofa said they will bury the decomposing corpse in the public cemetery located in Kawete village Namungalwe sub-county in case relatives of the deceased don't pick the body by the end of tomorrow.
 
Mugolofa said the other nine bodies were picked two days after the accident.
 
Patients neighbouring the hospital mortuary have abandoned their beds as a result of the stench from the decomposing body.
 
The District Police Commander Iganga, Davis Ndawula has urged anyone with a missing relative to report to Iganga Hospital to identify the deceased.
 
"We suspect she could have traveled from Mbale because that's where the taxi began its journey," he said
 
Ten people aboard the taxi registration number UAX 852 F perished after the Y.Y coach that was heading to Mbale from Kampala rammed into the taxi that was parked along the roadside, waiting to pick a passenger.
 
Five others survived with serious injuries such as broken legs, hands and deep cuts all over their bodies.
