Holders KCCA FC will face off with last season's finalists Onduparaka FC in the semifinals of the second edition of the Pilsner Super 8 after beating Wakiso Giants 2-0 Tuesday in Wakiso.

The defending champions took the lead through Allan Okello eight minutes before half time, before Sadat Anaku wrapped up matters at the death.

Next up, focus will turn on continental engagements as Mike Mutebi's side get set to leave for Namibia on Wednesday ahead of their CAF Champions League game against African Stars FC on Saturday.

Against Wakiso Giants, Okello put KCCA in front after linking up well with Mike Mutyaba. The teenage sensation buried the effort beyond goal keeper Yasin Mugabi after Mutyaba fought off defender Fahad Kawooya.

In the last minute of normal time, Anaku all but sealed the win, thanks to good buildup play with Mustafa Kizza.

Wakiso were brighter after the interval with the introduction of Ivan Kiweewa and Yasin Mugume, but they lacked potency and precision in the final third.

The Super 8 features the top-six teams from the previous seaon's top tier and the two teams promoted directly from the FUFA Big League.

KCCA, Vipers, URA, Tooro United, Mbarara City, Onduparaka, Proline and Wakiso Giants featured this time round.

This year's prize money has been doubled from sh30m last season to sh68m, with the winning team receiving sh20m, runners-up sh12m, third-placed team sh10m and fourth sh8m. The fifth to eighth teams will receive sh5m, sh4m and sh3m respectively.

It means each participating team walks away with a package.

KCCA won the inaugural edition last year after defeating Onduparaka 2-0 in the final. Okello scored one of the first-half goals, with Saddam Juma the other scorer.
