UPDF raises Uganda flag in Russia

The UPDF is being represented by a contingent of 14 officers and men under Col Jackson Pande Kajjuba drawn from the armoured brigade.

MOSCOW-The Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) has been commended for its outstanding performance and military professionalism during the Fifth Jubilee Edition of the International Army Games taking place in Moscow from 3rd - 17th August 2019.

The aim of the games is to strengthen friendship, fellowship and mutual understanding between nations. H.E President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin of the Russian Federation in his address urged the participants to use the opportunity offered by such games to strengthen constructive partnerships that can ensure the security of the different countries.

 

The UPDF is being represented by a contingent of 14 officers and men under Col Jackson Pande Kajjuba drawn from the armoured brigade. Officiating at the opening ceremony, the Minister of the Russian Federation General of the Army, Sergei K Shoigu Commended all participating countries for turning up emphasising that such competition contributes towards world peace and security.

 

The ceremony which took place at Patriot Park  in Albino,50 Kms South-West of Moscow, was also attended by a delegation led by Lt Gen Peter Elwelu, the UPDF Commander Land Forces that included Brig Richard Karemire the Defence Spokesperson, Brig James Nambale the Defence Attaché in Moscow and Col Kwihagana from the Uganda Peoples' Defence Airforces. The games are scheduled to end on 17 August 2019.
