According to recent market surveillance and intelligence operations by National Drug Authority, it was revealed that the most counterfeited drugs are Postinor 2 and Quinine because they are on high demand.

If the quinine bisulphate and the emergency contraceptive pill you took fails to provide the desired result, don't be surprised: the market is being flooded with fake medicines.
According to recent market surveillance and intelligence operations by National Drug Authority, it was revealed that the most counterfeited drugs are Postinor 2 and Quinine because they are on high demand.
"During our operations we discovered substandard/falsified quinine bisulphate tablets for fever containing metronidazole. It was found with one of the suspects who was arrested during the recent operations," said Nasser Lubowa, the acting post-market surveillance officer.
Lubowa also noted that the fake quinine batch number is 7422 purportedly manufactured by Laboratory and Allied LTD on March 2017 and will expire on April 2021.
"Pharmacies and individual who have the suspected counterfeit products are advised to hand over the product to NDA. Any drug outlet found in possession of the counterfeit Postinor 2 is liable to prosecution," said Lubowa.
Fred Ssekyana, the NDA spokesperson said that swallowing fake drugs can pose a number of side effects, in this case, pregnancy for Postinor.
NDA is still carrying out a test to ascertain other side effects that might be attached to the consumption of the fake Postinor.
"We are calling people to refrain from swallowing drugs bought from unlicensed places. If you are in need of the pills, visit a licensed pharmacy," said Ssekyana.
During the press conference, NDA officials revealed that they are going to take the products in their laboratory to establish the content.
