Airforce soldier dies in accident

The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces command has this morning lost one of their own attached to Air Force in Soroti flying school to a motor accident.

The 8:00am accident claimed the life of staff sergeant Brian Tukahirwa, in senior quarters as he was trying to cross the road to call his colleagues.



Tukahirwa and his colleagues reside in senior quarters and they are picked by a coaster every morning to the workstation at Soroti Flying School.

However, the Police spokesman Kyoga East Michael Odongo said the speeding vehicle belongs a Chinese company.

"He died on the spot and the driver stopped. We have arrested him, and he is currently in our custody on murder charges," Odongo said.

Odongo, identified the driver as Fatuhu Atuhura, 36, who is at Soroti Central Police Station custody.

He was driving a vehicle registration number UAY 582V, carried a sack of coins. The vehicle was impounded by police who rushed to the scene and the body was taken to the mortuary for postmortem.
