Hassan talks big ahead of Mr. Kampala championships

The top three finishers will share out sh800,000

Yakoub Bin Hassan is talking big ahead of the 29th edition of the Mr Kampala Bodybuilding Championship due at Mount Zion Hotel on Sunday.

With defending champion Lameck Muwanga away, the middleweight Royal Suites Gym muscleman has promised to floor his opponents and become the next big thing in bodybuilding.

"I'm going to light up the Mr Kampala stage and fans should not miss this because it is going to be amazing and awesome because I'm ready to lift this crown for the first time and become a champion," Hassan vowed during a press conference at Mt. Zion Hotel on Monday.

But his fellow competitors Johnronax Kariitwa, Ali Moshi and William Ssebyala who were at the press conference also promised to put up a good show despite it being their first time to compete at this level.

"I already feel like a winner because I believe in myself; I'm just waiting to show what I've got," Mugabe said.

Light weight's Ssebyala (Iron Kingdom Gym) was also buoyant ahead of the one-day event that is going to attract fifty competitors.

"It is going to be my first time but I'm only coming for the victory. I'm sure I'm going to win my category and after that anything can happen," Ssebyala stated.

The top three finishers will share out sh800,000 announced by Iron Man Supplements' Abdul Rahim.

Joseph Nkoyoyo the Uganda Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (UBBFA) secretary said the competition will start with preliminaries at Qibs Gym in Kyebando at 10 am on Sunday before the competition at Mt. Zion Hotel at 5 pm.

He said the tournament will be organised under the theme ‘Persist Until You Make It'

UBBFA president Twaha Ddungu said they were expecting new faces in the different categories and that the association planning to publish a book ‘Bodybuilding First' to sensitise the public about the sport and on the use of supplements.
