Express FC release eight ahead of new season

Express FC chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka said they were going to rebuild the team from scratch.

In a bid to revamp Express FC, the club administration has released eight players ahead of the new season.

According to a document signed by the club Chief Executive Officer Hamzah Jjunju and copied to the Chairman, Director Human Resource and Administration, Director Technical and the Head Coach, there will be no contract renewals for the eight players.

They are Shaphiq Kakeeto, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Joel Male,Pius Mbidde, Charles Musoke, Isaac Mutanga and long serving striker Tonny Odur.

"The players named are free to join football clubs of their own choice as Express Football Club won't renew their contracts. We wish them all the best in their future engagements," Jjunju stated.

Express FC chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka later said they were going to rebuild the team from scratch.

"We are going to get new players with a new culture and a new way of life," Kiwanuka said.

Since their appointment, the team's new executive were tasked to re-organise the club governance and administrative structures, and ensure the club does not get back into relegation positions, the financial condition is improved and revive Express FC growth in the period prior to the Uganda Premier League 2018/19, and throughout the season.

They also engaged and brought sponsors on board and currently; Betway, Equity Bank, Buganda Land Board and Uganda Breweries Limited, sponsor the team.
