Uganda is keen to live peacefully with all her neighbors, the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen David Muhoozi has told Defence Attachés and Advisors accredited to Uganda.

During a briefing he hosted  at the UPDF General Headquarters in Mbuya, a Kampala suburb on Monday, Muhoozi said the entire country remains peaceful and UPDF would remain committed to protecting Uganda's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He vowed that the UPDF would work with other security agencies to deter or curtail any acts of lawlessness by individuals or groups that may threaten Uganda's peace and security.

Uganda's military, he said, supports regional integration as a strategy to guarantee the survival of all the African people.

The UPDF would foster promoting harmony with all sisterly countries through the existing regional frameworks such as the EAC Protocol on Cooperation in Defence Affairs, he pledged, according to a release from ministry of Defence.

Gen Muhoozi assured the envoys of stability in Uganda, saying efforts were now directed at addressing development challenges, including socio-economic transformation.

The briefing session was also attended by the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu, Defence Attachés/Advisors representing Tanzania, USA, Rwanda, UK, Netherlands, Republic of Korea, France, Turkey, Kenya, South Africa and South Sudan, among others.

In recent months, President Yoweri Museveni has warned those who harbor intentions of destabilizing Uganda that they stand no chance to survive.

"Those who want to destabilize our country do not know our capacity. It is very big. Once we mobilise, you can't survive." He said as he commissioned five factories in Mukono in March.

He said UPDF is strong and well equipped to secure Uganda from any forces of destabilisation adding that those that attempt to destabilise Uganda will destroy themselves.

"Nobody can disturb our peace. Anyone who thinks of destabilising Uganda, will destroy themselves and even those who have been killing people in Kampala, will be defeated and destroyed," he said during Tarehe Sita celebrations in February.

Uganda maintains sound trade and diplomatic ties with all her regional neighbours. However, for more than two months, Uganda and Rwanda have traded barbs over unresolved grievances.
