In a sense, it is more about how she plays than what her innings read. Damalie Busingye is a smart batsman.

In the course of the Victoria Tri-Series last month in Uganda, legendary cricketer Sam Walusimbi, watching a game between Uganda and Zimbabwe literally distinguished the player from her teammates.

Not to say that she is necessarily the best, but her unusual combination of wit and composure brings a different breed of player on the team.

Having wandered away in Rwanda for some time, she is now relishing her return on the National team.

Busingye was undefeated at a half ton of 65 not out as Uganda got the perfect start to the ongoing ICC Africa Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.

Uganda dictated proceedings from the go with Naomi Kayondo moving the scoreboard further with 34 from 36 balls as the Lady Cricket Cranes won by 90 runs at the Old Hararians oval.

All-rounder Immaculate Nakisuyi and  Consy Aweko did damage on the Sierra Leone with 3 wickets apiece to restrict them to 53.

So far so good as Kevin Awino and Co. lead Group B standings on 2 points.

The defending champions will now focus their charges on Namibia today in the winner takes all contest where the winner of the qualifier proceeds to the global qualifier later this year in Scotland.
