UJCC issues Way of the Cross advisory

The clerics invited all Ugandans in and around Kampala to participate in the Way of the Cross.

The Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC) has issued an advisory showing the routes for the ecumenical public Way of the Cross on Good Friday.

The advisory was issued by Kampala Archbishop, Dr. Cyprian Lwanga, the council's chairperson, and his co-chairpersons the Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga of the Uganda Orthodox Church and Stanley Ntagali, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda.

The clerics invited all Ugandans in and around Kampala to participate in the Way of the Cross. It will be marked under the theme; I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness (John 10:10).

"The Ecumenical Public Way of the Cross will (involve) ten routes starting from the different parts of the city and all pilgrims converging at Kampala Senior Secondary School Play Ground," the advisory indicates.

The pilgrims will converge at the playground after the Way of the Cross for speeches. Christians in Kampala Central are expected to start from All Saints Cathedral and Christ the King Church.

Four routes have been selected for Christians in northern parts of the city. Some will start at St. Luke's Church, Ntinda, St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church Kigoowa-Ntinda, St. Andrew's Church of Uganda, Bukoto, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Kamwokya, St. John's Church of Uganda Kamwokya, St. Philip's Church of Uganda, Kyebando and St. James Church of Uganda- Kifumbira.

The second group of Christians will start at Our Lady Help of the Sick Mulago Catholic Parish, St. Paul's Church of Uganda Mulago, St. Nicholas Church of Uganda, Kalerwe, St. Peter's Church of Uganda, Wandegeya, St. Luke's Chapel Mulago and St. Joseph's Chaplaincy, Mulago.

The third route includes St. Stephen's Church of Uganda, Mpererwe, St. Luke's Church of Uganda, Kanyanya, Kanyanya Catholic Church and St. Paul's Church of Uganda, Kyebando.

The fourth route includes St. Augustine Chapel Makerere University, St. Francis Chapel - Makerere University and Holy trinity Makerere, Kivulu.

The western route one has St. Nichoals Orthodox Church, Namungoona, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Parish, Nakulabye, St. Thomas Church of Uganda, Nansana, St. Jospeh's Catholic Parish, Nansana, St. Andrew's Church of Uganda, Kasubi, and Scripture Union Uganda.

Western route two includes Namirembe Cathedral, St. Andrea Kaggwa, Masanafu, Kampala School for the Deaf, Namirembe, Masanafu Church of Uganda, St. Rachel Church of Uganda, Lungujja, Kitongi Church of Uganda, Mengo Hospital School of Nursing, and St. Mapeera Catholic Church.

Western route three has Rubaga Cathedral, St. James Church of Uganda Mengo-Kisenyi, Rubaga Hospital Nursing School, St. Balikudembe Catholic Church, St. James Church of Uganda, Balikuddembe, Uganda Martyrs Church, Katwe, St. Stephen's Church of Uganda, Kitara.

Southern Route one includes Nsambya Catholic Parish, St. Stephen's Church, Kisugu; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Kansanga, Kansanga Church of Uganda, Ggaba Catholic Parish, Ggaba Church of Uganda, Kawuku Church of Uganda and Ggaba TTC.

Others are Nsambya Sch. of Nursing, Kampala University, Church of Uganda Chaplaincy, Kampala University Catholic Chaplaincy, St. Janani Luwum Church of Uganda, Kabalagala, St. John's Catholic Church, Kisugu, and Apollo Kivebulaya Church of Uganda.

Christians taking the southern route two can start at any of the following places; Ndeeba Catholic Parish, Namasuba Church of Uganda, Namasuba Catholic Parish, Mackay Church of Uganda, Ndeeba, St. Andrea Cath. Shrine - Ndeeba, St. Luke's Church of Uganda, Makindye, St. Sophia Orthodox Church, and St. Agnes Catholic Parish.

Christians taking the eastern route can start at St. Peter's Church of Uganda Naguru, St. Jude Cath. Parish, Naguru, Kakumba Chapel, Kyambogo, Kyambogo Catholic Chaplaincy, Bweyogerere Catholic Parish, St. James Chapel, MUBS, Catholic Chapel MUBS, Our Lady of Africa, Mbuya, Focolare, Cotr - Bugolobi Church of Uganda. Others are St. John's Church of Uganda Luzira, St. John's Chapel, Luzira, Biina Catholic Parish, St. Luke's Chapel Church of Uganda, Butabika, St. John's Church of Uganda Kitintale, and Christ Community Church, Mutungo.
