Students lynch 19-year-old man to death over trespass

KISORO - Following an increase in cases of burglary and theft at St Peter's Vocational School in Kisoro district, the angry students on Saturday lynched to death a 19-year-old man for allegedly trespassing their premises.
 
The deceased was identified as Emmanuel Mftimukiza, a resident of Kisoro hospital village, in Kisoro Municipality.
 
The school's head teacher, George Zihiranye, said the incident occurred at around 2:00 pm.
 
"The suspected thief trespassed at the school premises and was arrested by students who lynched him to death," he said.
 
Police took the deceased's body to Kisoro hospital mortuary pending postmortem and further investigations.
 
The area Police spokesperson, Elly Matte told New Vision that they have so far arrested three suspects to help in the investigations.
 
"They include the night watchman (Askari) and two students, but we hope to make more arrests as we continue with investigations into the case," he said.
 
Police have also opened up a murder case file CRB: 279/2919  as they continue with further inquiries into the matter so that all culprits are brought to book.
