KCB flags off SME entrepreneurs for Japan benchmarking trip

KCB bank has sent 20 members of its business club to Tokyo, Japan as part of its annual entrepreneurship development drive. Dr.Jeff Sebuyira Mukasa, a director on KCB Uganda's board noted that the trip will provide vital learning opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs.
"KCB bank is providing a systematic approach to grow SME and small scale enterprise owners and employees by offering a platform where they can entrench their current experiences with those in countries that are more modern and commercialized than Uganda," Mukasa said at the Haandi restaurant in Kampala before the entrepreneurs set off.
Edgar Byamah, the KCB bank managing director said the SME sector is critical for Uganda's development, adding that this is the fifth time that the bank has sent its business club members on.
Godfrey Ssenteza, a KCB bank senior manager said that the bank has earmarked sh80b for SME lending. He noted that the bank intends to enable SMEs in its business club members to take up opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
Mizumoto Horii, the deputy ambassador at the embassy of Japan urged the entrepreneurs to take keen note of Japans culture, especially the countries business principals and proverbs - which guide business practice. He also urged them to take note of the technology usage of Japanese SMEs.
