Malawi is expected to go to the polls in May to choose the country's next leader
MALAWI - Former president Joyce Banda states her intention to run as candidate in the country's elections this May.
She has chosen Jerry Jana, former Chief Executive Officer of the Malawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as her running mate.
Joyce Banda, returned home (Malawi) in April 2018, after four years of self-imposed exile, despite facing the threat of arrest over corruption allegations.
She had fled the country in 2014 when she lost power after being embroiled in the so-called Cashgate scandal, in which government officials siphoned off millions of dollars of public money.
Malawi goes to the polls in May to choose the next leader.
