Miss Uganda North America kicks off her Uganda tour

The queen was officially received at Entebbe airport by Miss Tourism Uganda, Margaret Kankwanzi and Uganda Tourism Board senior marketing officer, Daniel Irunga.

KAMPALA - Miss Uganda North America 2018/19, Shalom Aburu arrived on Friday, January 11th for her 2019 Cares Tour of Uganda.

The queen was officially received at Entebbe airport by Miss Tourism Uganda, Margaret Kankwanzi and Uganda Tourism Board senior marketing officer, Daniel Irunga.

They were accompanied by other beauty queens including; Miss Tourism West Nile, Laura Lebu, Miss Uganda Rising Woman, Karen Nyangan and former Miss Uganda Rising Woman, Iryn Nakitende.

Miss Uganda North America founders, Tibba Murungi Kabugu and Julius Kabugu were also present. The Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) was represented by Deputy Envoy, Isaac Ssebakijje.

Aburu is in Uganda on a tourism, culture, charity and leadership tour. She is an ambassador for Ugandans living in North America. She will be promoting Uganda's tourism and culture. 

 
"The Cares Tour of Uganda is a great initiative by Miss Uganda North America. UTB believes in the initiative because it will help Aburu experience the beauty of Uganda herself in order to be able to effectively represent and sell Uganda abroad," said Irunga.

Aburu will also be carrying out charity visits and delivering education-related donations to various non-profit organisations on behalf of the Ugandan community in North America; as her platform is education. 

The Cares Tour of Uganda themed Bwindi: Gorillas and Southwestern Traditions started on January 14th and will end on 17th. Aburu will be touring Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and visiting communities in the area.

She will also partner with non-profits in the central region, including Keep Me in School and Different Better with a Purpose. Lastly, she will be delivering a donation to Morkiswa community skilling organization in her home district of Tororo.

The tour ends at the 2019 Ladies First Summit for Women in Leadership, a full day of forums, speeches and edutainment on subjects like wealth management, entrepreneurship, wellness, relationships, and career growth.

The summit will take place from 9am to 7pm on January 19, 2019 at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.
