KCCA goes in search of an away goal

As they seek to progress to the group stages of the Confederation Cup, any goals scored away from home could prove decisive in the return leg

CAF Confederation Cup: AS Otoho v KCCA (5:30pm)

KCCA FC hope to thrive on their away scoring record like they did in their previous engagements on the continent.

The Lugogo-based side, who face AS Otoho in their CAF Confederation Cup first leg game away in Congo Brazzaville, have scored seven goals away from home in their last three matches in both the Confederation Cup and Champions League.

And as they seek to progress to the group stages of the Confederation Cup, any goals scored away from home today at Stade Marien Ngouabi in Owando could prove decisive in the return leg.

"We are here to win and if they (AS Otoho) play an open game it will also suit us. We believe the 1-0 victory against URA in the league gave us a clear picture of what we are going to expect in Congo.

"Like I said, we must stick to our style of play if we are to get the results we need," said KCCA coach Mike Mutebi.

KCCA FC, who touched base in Congo on Friday will miss midfielder Jackson Nunda.

Nunda, who has been instrumental in KCCA's previous victories, picked up an injury during the league game against URA.

Sadam Juma is also injured but hopes to return for the second leg to be held at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo on January 20.

Steven Sserwadda and Lawrence Bukenya are some of the players Mutebi will have to consider as replacements for Nunda.

The Lugogo-based side has won all their last seven games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Otoho will look to ride on their impressive start in the Congolese league. They have won three games and drawn one so far. They lead the contest with 10 points.

Probable XI: Charles Lukwago, Filbert Obenchan, Timothy Awany, Mustafa Kizza, Lawrence Bukenya, Gift Ali, Herbert Achai, Julius Poloto, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Allan Okello, Patrick Kaddu.
