Gen. Muhoozi urges youth to embrace agriculture

Presidential Advisor on special operations Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has urged the youth to embrace to embrace agriculture to fight poverty.

Muhoozi, who says he rears cows, asked the youth to be patriotic, productive and live healthy lives.

He discouraged the youth from selling their land in villages to come in towns and buy boda bodas, saying the land is more valuable than a motorcycles that could easily break down in a short time.

Muhoozi said this while on a tour of Rugyeyo Farm in Namayumba, Wakiso district on Tuesday morning.

He told Ugandans, especially the young people, to emulate Robert Kabushenga, the owner of the farm and CEO of Vision Group, saying Kabushenga finds time off his busy schedule in Kampala to do farming.

He described him as a great inspiration to the young people.

Accompanied by Vision Group boss Robert Kabushenga, Muhoozi toured the banana plantation, irrigation systems and coffee plantation.

The Banana plantation sits on 18 acres of land while the coffee farm sits on 50 acres of land.

Kabushenga used the occasion to ask Muhoozi to remind President Yoweri Museveni about the pledge on giving farmers hoes.

During the 2016 presidential elections campaign President Yoweri Museveni promised 18 million hoes to farmers.  

After the tour, Kabushenga gave Muhoozi two bunches of matooke.
