CHRISTMAS

KAMPALA - Fr. Joseph Semanda has asked the Catholic faithful to let the new-born child Jesus Christ enter their hearts and change their lives.

He was delivering his homily during the Christmas Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Nsambya.

"It doesn't make any sense to celebrate Christmas without Jesus. It is like going to a wedding party where the bride and groom are missing," said the parish priest.

Semanda said that rampant problems that have bedeviled Uganda can only be overcome if Christians embraced Christ and walked with Him.

"Our country is tainted by endemic corruption, greed, hatred, selfishness, domestic violence, mob-justice, drug-abuse, drunkenness, violence, disrespect for human life and other grave immoralities.

"These problems should not make us lose hope for the future.

"Let us put our faith in God, knowing well that He can help us to prevail over every problem if we surrender to Him," preached Semanda.

"Let us also remember that even with all these problems around us, there are still some good people in this country, for example the medical doctors and nurses who serve people with love despite their meager pay.

"Others are the security men and women who serve the people without intimidation or extortion."
