Players from both the junior and senior sides each also received hampers and Christmas gifts in what Kiwanuka termed as a team building gesture intended to motivate the players.

Express FC continued to score highly off the pitch after their players received Christmas packages from the club's board members on Sunday.

The board members were led by board chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka and hosted Express players and their families to a Christmas luncheon at Kenlon Gardens, Mengo on Sunday.

Players from both the junior and senior sides each also received hampers and Christmas gifts in what Kiwanuka termed as a team building gesture intended to motivate the players.

"Express FC is a way of life. The purpose of this was to interact with the players and wish them a Merry Christmas; we are a family so this was a family event and one way of motivating the team but also used for team-building," Kiwanuka said.

"The players play on the pitch, officials play their part in the boardroom and we are working together to develop this team and we shall continue doing it. We hope the players will be motivated to understand that we care about them as individuals and not only as players," Kiwanuka said.

Team coach Kefa Kisaala praised Kiwanuka for his hands on approach.

"First I want to thank the chairman for fulfilling all that he pledged to do for the players. He wants them to think about the team ‘as a way of life'; it is in the same spirit that some of us played for Express FC, so he has performed well and it has excited the players and motivated them to continue performing well for the good future of the team," Kisaala noted.

Despite some pressure from a section of fans Kisaala believes that the fans' mentality, culture and passion will slowly be instilled in the players so that they can deliver on the pitch.

Express captain Davis Mayanja also welcomed the meeting and the gifts that came with it and said it had continued to strengthen the bond between the players and the officials.

"We expect to continue improving because this board has made huge strides in improving our lives. The quality of our game has improved and this is a further motivator and we promise to continue winning matches and picking good results," Mayanja stated.
