LAWYER  AGE LIMIT

Henry Oluka, the Senior Principle State Attorney in the office of the Attorney General much famed for successfully defending proposal to remove the age limit from the 1995 Constitution has passed on.

Oluka succumbed to a cardiac arrest this Friday when he collapsed and died during a presentation he was making in Kampala at Golf Course View Hotel in Entebbe where he had just closed the day's work in a retreat of Ministry of Justice and Constitution affairs.

Before his demise, he had already been cleared by Government to be flown abroad for surgery, but his condition was not stable enough for a flight.

Prior to joining the Attorney Generals Chambers, Oluka worked with Omunyokol and Co. Advocates now (G and P Advocates). He is a brother to Justice Michael Elubu.

Makmot Kibwanga, one of the lawyers he had worked with described as a truthful hardworking personality.

"I and Henry go back awhile when I led a team of advocates who filed the Multi-Trillion Lango War Claimants Case in 2009/10 - arguable the greatest tort award of all times in our jurisprudence."

"Sometimes our battles could leave the court room and go to the media, but what was important is that we all played fair. Sometimes we were upset with each other and sometimes we partied together. We, however, developed an affinity when we each led our verification teams and we worked together for almost six months,"

A close friend Petronella Ochom eulogized Oluka. "Your rich laughter, your great jokes and the dancing you would get to fill my mind. Memories I will not forget, memories I will always cherish. You were so full of life - now you like still. My tears flow endlessly even if I know you are with God. The human being in me maybe devastated but my spirit is calm because the angels are enjoying your company."
