KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni is expected to preside over a graduation ceremony by Seninde Foundation due on Saturday at Namboole Stadium.

The 3rd graduation ceremony of the institution will start at 9am local time.

Over 7,000 women and youths will be awarded certificates in various vocational and technical skills following their three-month training.

The state minister for primary education, Rosemary Seninde, thanked President Museveni for supporting the women in her foundation, which started in 2016 with an enrollment of 3,000.

Seninde is also the Wakiso district Woman MP.

She said Museveni will preside over Saturday's graduation while handing handing over a donation of hairdressing, tailoring and catering equipment to use for training.

Seninde advised women to save money from the sale of their finished products and reinvest it in other small-scale businesses to supplement their income.

A believer of skilling, Seninde started Seninde Foundation 2016 to help women and youths attain hands-on skills to help them end poverty in their families.

"I believe skilling a woman is skilling a nation, because a mother cannot not look on and her children fail to go to school when she has a skill that she can apply to earn a living," she said.

The foundation trains women and girls in vocational skills including catering and bakery, tailoring, candle making, paper bags making, charcoal briquette making, hairdressing and liquid soap making.

She, however, warned women against laziness and urged them to embrace the vocational skills every time they get an opportunity to be trained skills.
