For Uganda, the catch lies in the fact that this is a fully -fledged project that will ultimately help the country with provision of foreign umpires, coaches and hockey specialists.

"This is such a big moment for not just Uganda, but the entire region of East Africa. Honestly, there have been some gaps in the development areas of the game hopefully this will answer so many questions" said Lydia Dhamuzungu chairperson Uganda Hockey Association (UHA).

Meanwhile, it is important to remember that the local National Hockey League that ended recently was dorminated by youngsters who have resultantly been included on the league select side. This simple statistic shows that there is just so much potential an possibly raw talent in Uganda that needs to be tapped.

The league select side will travel for an invitational tournament next year in Kenya (Bungoma)
