Police have called on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party to follow the right procedure as they prepare their activities.

The Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima said they are not against FDC or other political parties from carrying out their activities as many want to portray.

Kayima said FDC only needs to comply as per police guidelines to avoid confrontations.

While addressing journalists at the party's weekly press conference at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi the party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat said they had resolved to go on with their activities without writing to Police since they were deliberately halting their events.

"We have been writing to Police over time; but they still block us. They violently arrested and drove us back to Kampala when we were heading to Kasese for party activities. But we heard informed them. This makes our work difficult as a party," he added.

Amuriat stressed that, even by the Public Order Management Act (POMA), they are not supposed to ask for permission from Police to carry out their activities.

"As a party registered in this country, we would like to carryout our activities to promote our party like others. I have tried to meet the Police chief Okoth Ochola but in vain. Every time I go to meet him; he locks himself in the office and they claim he is not around. When I call his number; no one picks nor responds yet he knows my number," he added.

Amuriat said now that Police continues to harass them; they have resolved to carryout their activities without informing the Police.

He said on November 26th, they will be in Rukungiri, November 27th (Mbarara)and on December 11th (Kasese).

"We shall face-off in the field. Enough is enough," Amuriat said.

However, Kayima warned that no activity will be allowed without Police knowledge. He said all letters which were written from FDC were replied with a few things that needed adjustments.

"We do not stop them because we want them not to carry on with their activities. There are issues we always raise that need adjustments but they they don't comply. They should give us their whole year schedule and we discuss," he said. Ends
