Diana Giramia, 21, of Alero sub-county in Nwoya district, says when her guardian, a soldier, was called for duty to Somalia, she dropped out of school.

She was in Senior Two. When she returned home, her father advised her to get married.

The 15-year-old was married off in 2012 and gave birth to her first child in the same year. Her husband was 20 and was also out of school.

She says her marriage ended in 2016.

Through the LC1 chairman, she got to know about Save the Children and for training on how to make bags, ear rings, rosaries, necklaces, shoes and sandals.

She says she earns about sh400,000 to sh500,000 per month, which enables her to pay school fees for her two daughters, sh50,000 per term for each.

She says she has started a piggery project and is training four survivors of child marriages.

 "I advise young girls to avoid early marriages. If your parents have no school fees, dig and raise your own money, men will just use you and mistreat you," - Giramia says.
