ENTEBBE - Namulonge Golf Club's caddie Tom Jjingo emerged the best golfer as the second edition of the Uganda Caddies Open ended at Kitante on Monday.

 

The 20-year old returned 153 gross over 36 holes to beat over 100 caddies from Uganda and Kenya to win his fourth career competition and bag the top prizes that included a trophy and sh80,000 cash.

 

The EKSPRESO sponsored tournament also had Robinah Angom winning the ladies' category with 92 gross over 18 holes, to walk away with the same of cash and a suit case.

Brian Mugabe from Entebbe Club was the best in Group A, beating Kenya's John Karanja amd last year's winner Bruhan Matovu while the top players in Group B.

 

It was all fun for the caddies as they partied until the wee hours of the morning after the prize ceremony at Nyondo Pub in Najjanankumbi.

 

Ekspreso's John Katto who has been a key figure in supporting the caddies tournaments advised them to form a savings and credit scheme where they can pool resources to develop themselves.

 

Professional golfer Deo Akope advised them to take their job seriously and also ensure they remain disciplined all the time.
