Ntinda youth offered vehicles for income generation

Raimon Bahati, 27, a resident of Nagere Kira Municipality Wakiso district has been yearning to have his own car for income generation, and his dream came true, courtesy of Bryan White foundation.

Bahati is among the beneficiaries of the 11 cars received through soft loan to empower youth to boost their income.

The Mass Communication graduate from Makerere University could not hide his joy, and narrated to the New Vision how he had been driving special hire Quick taxi, and earning peanuts.

He said he has been stressed, as his bosses have been demanding for sh80,000  per day yet he get only sh50,000 per day.

"Imagine paying sh80, 000 per day and yet you get sh50,000 per day, really is that a job," Bahati said.

He explained that he first watched Bryan White in Arua while giving out money to people and sensitised Cab drivers to write a proposal and take it Bryan White, a few of his colleagues supported the idea while others neglected it is saying Bryan White's money cannot be accessible if you are not a celebrity

"We insisted and presented our proposal and requested for sh30m as loan to access 11 vehicles in Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) Bank and today,  the time of working for other people has ended  I am a boss of my car," Bahati noted.

"We received eight brand new Toyota Wish, two Toyota Fielder and one Toyota Corolla worth sh285m that will be paid in installments."

Speaking at Munyonyo while handing over keys to Ntinda Cab Drivers Association, Brian Kirumira, popularly known as Bryan White, advised drivers to focus on their work, meet their loan obligations, as well as make profit.

"Many people think I am seeking popularity but helping youth is every body's reasonability. We need to joint efforts with the Government and private sector to make sure youths are empowered as we advocate for peace and stability.

"We want to make sure that youth have something to do and that is  why you always see President Yoweri Museveni moving up and down , lobbying  for youth," Kirumira explained.

He challenged People Power led by MP Robert Kyagulanyi to unveil their plan for the youth. Bryan White asked the youth to shun violence and struggle for success.

"Those politicians are using you for their own benefits. No president will take power and give you free money. You have to work hard".

 
He disclosed that he had lost over sh6b, given out to disorganised people who lacked plans.

Bryan White said he now deals with registered and organised group to benefit from the money.

During the function, over 10 groups of reformed criminals including Unchangeable, Kasalo, Kibanda, among others, registered to benefit from the funds.

In his testimony, Derrick Katerega of Kibanda group from Kawempe confessed that he was as reformed thief.

"I have been a robber for 10 years but have gained nothing apart from being arrested by police. If youths are empowered with startup funds,  especially carpentry machines, everything will be history," Katerega narrated.
