SGS treasurer Billy Patrick said it was a privilege for the association to participate in the development of other golf clubs in the country

In continuation of their tradition of supporting the development of different golf courses and the game of golf, the Seniors Golfing Society (SGS) head to Kabale this Saturday, to awaken golfing activities in the area.

Jackson Karyarugokwe, the chairman of SGS told a press conference at Kitante on Tuesday that as an association, they had taken it upon themselves to ensure they play on every golf course in the country as per their mission but also provide an opportunity for their members to associate among themselves and with other golfers and also to support the development of golf.

"As SGS, we decided to sponsor a tournament in Kabale; the Kabale Seniors Golf Challenge on November 3. We shall provide trophies and other prizes for the competition with support of other golfers from the Uganda and Kabale Golf Clubs," Karyarugokwe said.

There will be prizes in the traditional men and ladies groups A-C.

"What we are going to do in Kabale is what we have done even at other golf courses across the country like Mbale, Lira and Mbarara. Next year, we plan to go to Tororo and Lira among the other activities we shall have," he added.

The Chairman Kabale Golf Club Elvis Twenda said this was going to be the second tournament at the club since the Mutebile Open that was held in January. He expressed gratitude to the SGS and invited all golfers to come not only to participate but also enjoy the scenic country side and tourist attractions in the area.

SGS treasurer Billy Patrick said it was a privilege for the association to participate in the development of other golf clubs in the country while senior golfer Sam Zaramba said Kabale golfers were ready to entertain the visiting golfers after the one-day tournament.

The SGS is a national society of golfers (men and women) of 55 years and above. Currently they have a membership of about 150 golfers.
