Bwaise parishioners celebrate married couples' day

“None of you should miss the opportunity to have their marriage officially sanctioned and blessed in Church with the pretext of high costs..."

The parish priest of St Kizito Catholic parish, Bwaise, Msgr John Baptist Ssebayigga has asked his parishioners and all Catholics in Uganda, who are not yet married in Church, to take advantage of the relatively cheap wedding arrangements that the Church puts in place, to receive the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

"None of you should miss the opportunity to have their marriage officially sanctioned and blessed in Church with the pretext of high costs. The Church has made provisions like mass-wedding, to ease the process and costs of wedding," Ssebayigga said.

He made the remarks during the celebrations for married couples' day at St Kizito Catholic parish, Bwaise, last week.

The prelate said the Church had even gone to the greater length of wedding couples at no cost, and also making financial contributions towards the couples' reception in an effort to promote strong Christian families.

The Chairman of married couples in Kampala Archdiocese, Michael Dumba encouraged parents to do more to build the character of their children.

"God-fearing parents normally bring up God-fearing children. Simplifying the process of obtaining the sacrament of holy matrimony will therefore, help a great deal in checking the rampant moral decay in society," said Dumba.

Dumba later encouraged the couples that are not yet married in Church to register with their respective parish-priests and have their marriage blessed during the Archdiocesan mass-wedding function at Namugongo Catholic Martyrs Shrine on December 29 (2018).

The Chairman of the married spouses of Bwaise parish, Patrick Mubiru also graced the function.
