Kagoro wins junior golf tournament in Naivasha

The Naivasha tournament and camp that targeted East African residents attracted over 50 junior golfers from the region.

Keisha Kagoro registered her first victory on foreign soil when she emerged top at the recently concluded Junior Golf tournament and Camp that was held at the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf resort in Naivasha, Kenya over the weekend.

This was the second foreign tournament in two months for the nine-year old who made a podium finish in her first international competition in the 2018 South Africa Kids Junior African Challenge 2018 at the San Lameer country club early last month.

The Naivasha tournament and camp that targeted East African residents attracted over 50 junior golfers from the region.

Kagoro emerged the champion in the girls category in this Juniors events that was sponsored by the US Kids Golf who are betting on growing the next generation of golfers and enthusiasts using curriculum development, tournaments and provision of equipment during training.

She continues to receive golfing support and technical expertise from the The Players Association (TPA), Certified golf professionals and directors that include Bryan Roelofoz (PGA qualified professional South Africa), Emmanuel Kasio (Kenya), Zoe Allen (PGA Northern Ireland), Michelle Holmes (LPGA based in Virginia, USA) and her coach Becca Mwanja (UGC)

Her performance in Kenya has seen some golfing professionals and Golf academy's pick interest in her.

Keisha started her golfing career expedition in 2014 at the age of 6, and has participated in various local junior golfing championships in Uganda and the region including the recently concluded 3 day US kids international tournament and camp  held at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa which has since earned her a place in the Uganda Junior Team.

Her performance in South Africa in August this year, earned her an Automatic Entry to participate in the Kids Golf World Championship in Malaysia at the Tabjong Puteri Golf resort starting December 2018.

"We want her to take on the sport as a career and we shall continue to support her," Marvin Kagoro her dad said.
