Senior Four final exams underway

It is that time of the year when students across the country have to show for their efforts in school. 

Senior Four candidates started their final exams Monday at 9:00am local time with Physics practicals and Fine Art.

From today until November 16, as many as 336,740 candidates from 3,658 centres across the country will have sat exams of varied disciplines.

It is a higher number this time round, compared to year's, whith 10,528 more candidates sitting the O' Level final exams.

This year's exams are conducted under the theme: Integrity and security in the management of examinations is my responsibility.

In Rukungiri district, for example, a total of 1,112 candidates are doing the UCE finals, and the district education officer, Dr. Jackson Nzarirwehe, said Monday that all centres had received their papers.

 

Headteachers (pictured above) had convened at Rukungiri Police Station centre by 8:00am to pick examination papers under the watch of the area supervisor, chief scout and security personnel.

Francis Magezi, the area supervisor at Rukungiri Police Station, said all the schools in his jurisdiction received question papers in time.

This year, the female UCE candidates constitute 49.5%. And generally, 45.2% are beneficiaries of the government's free education programme USE.

National exams body UNEB said 470 area supervisors, 3,658 centre supervisors, 13,279 chief invigilators and invigilators will be in action during the month-long examination period.
