UCU were in fine form as both their men and women teams successfully defended their UCU open titles in Mukono on Sunday.

The Doves and Lady Doves controlled proceedings from start to finish capping of their strong showing with both trophies in their hands at the end of the two days.

The men defeated KAVC 3-1 in a match that had it all, the big hitters came to the party, but by the end of the whole experience UCU stood the taste of time.

Men's Captain Moses Odeke lauded his side for a job well done but most importantly believes they still have a lot of work left in the season.

"We are not yet there because we still have goals set that we have to achieve. We are very happy that we have successfully defended the UCU Open title but there is still work to be done," he said.

Their biggest challenge came in form of Sport-S who took them to the fifth set in the semi-final. UCU only won because they were physically more awake to the situation as Sport-S faded.

"All the championships we have gone through and won, we have always trained. The uphill task for us is always Sport-S. The have the best setters, they are tall and but of course age always becomes a factor for them," UCU coach Nasson Bwesigye said.

The Lady Doves were a force to be reckoned with as they nullified VVC to win the match 3-1.
