President Yoweri Museveni's advisor on political affairs in Lango sub region has passed on.
Ben Ogwang Ochoo, 71, breathed his last at Mulago National Referral Hospital on Monday at around 9:45pm according to health minister, Dr Jane Aceng.
Ogwang Ochoo, a laboratory technologist and proprietor of Lira Medical Centre, was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and has been undergoing treatment.
Aceng said Museveni has been footing Ochoo's medical bills in India where he returned from last month.
When his condition deteriorated, he was airlifted in a military chopper to Mulago on Sunday but he passed away hours later.
Aceng said a tentative program has burial pencilled in for Saturday at Ochoo's ancestral home in Camkwoki village, Otwal sub-county in Oyam district, pending arrival of his son who is in Switzerland.
Ochoo has been a staunch NRM supporter where he served as the party district chairperson for Apac district in early 2000 and for the 2016 general election. He was also the coordinator of Museveni's campaign in Lango sub region.
