Nkumba Ladies turn focus to league

After winning the National Club Championships over the weekend, the Nkumba University Volleyball Club (NUVC) head coach has promised on focussed on the league title.

At a final of the 33rd NCC, Nkumba Ladies beat VVC 3-0, while UCU men beat Sport-S 3-2 to emerge champions and first Ugandan volleyball clubs to qualify for the 2019 African Club championships.

Tony Lakony asked his players to stay focused and work harder in the league because they need to win it as well.

"Immediately after the final, I encouraged my girls to resume training and work harder becaused the journey is still on. We don't time to relax because we also need the league," Lakony said.

The performance of institutions in volleyball tournaments has surpassed that of clubs. Institutions such as Nkumba, Uganda Christian University and Ndejje have convincingly outshone Nemostars, KAVC, Sport-S, Vision Volleyball Club and KCCA.

Meanwhile, the 2018 NCC MVP in the men's category, Elias Isiagi vowed to lead his side to the National league .
