Museveni tours Kampala and Wakiso

ENTEBBE - President Yoweri Museveni made a visit to different SACCOs groups around Kampala and Wakiso on Thursday and Friday.
The different groups involved in making furniture, metal doors, windows and different wood products received various machinery in carpentry and metal works from the Presient.
The SACCOs also received dummy cheques worth sh50m and sh30m.
The President encouraged the youth to form SACCOs as a way of pooling resources together in order to facilitate development.
The President dressed in a cotton shirt made in Uganda , was applauded by the different SACCOs for promoting Ugandan products.
State House Comptroller, Lucy Nakyobe said the president started the project of facilitating SACCOs three years ago with the group at Najera.
‘'He identifies the groups involved in different activities , then I deal with their leaders, by helping them to form SACCOs, purchase machinery which the president eventually comes to launch,'' she said.
Yusuf Kiryowa, a member of Katabi Artisans Co-operative Saving Society in Entebbe, said, "Our President advised us to form an association and we named it Katabi Artisans Co-operative SACCO. He has bought a number of machines for carpentry and metal works that are expensive for an individual to afford.''
‘'Members pay membership fee of shs 10,000 and subsequently come and process their products depending on the volume of work, they are charged accordingly" Kiryowa added.
Another member Moses Semakula said the President bought signature machine, plainer, surface plainer, saw spin, circular saw, mortiser bench cutter and a drill.
Museveni visited , Katabi Artisans Co-operative Society, Najanankumbi Savings , Busega furniture , Nalukolongo Co-operative and Kabuusu SACCO.
All the SACCO members were excited by the donations as President Museveni completes the two-day tour in Kampala and Wakiso districts.
