Three stadiums approved to host league games

A total of 100 national football league games will be broadcast live by StarTimes in their first season, but only three stadiums will be used.

They are StarTimes stadium, Lugogo, St Mary's stadium, Kitende and Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

"TV has standards which we can't compromise. Considering that we shall be broadcasting to an international audience then we need to have minimum standards if we are going to market the Ugandan game," noted StarTimes vice president Aldrine Nsubuga.

StarTimes secured both the Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League broadcasting rights, in a 10 year deal worth $7,240,000 (27b). The league is scheduled to kick off on September 28.

In a related development, Vipers and KCCA will face off in the FUFA Super Cup slated for September 22 at a venue yet to be communicated.

The FUFA Super Cup is a season opener between Uganda Premier League Champions and Uganda Cup Winners.
