DC's Uganda festival: A beehive of activity

DIASPORA-The 2018 UNAA Causes' event is no ordinary. It is a blend of educative meetings and a weekend of fun.
From financial literacy seminars, fashion and charity to entertainment, a lot await participants. With a few weeks left to the summer event dubbed: the Uganda Festival 2018, a five-day final programme running from August 30 to September 3 has been confirmed.
It includes Washington DC tour, business expo, dinner galas, fashion weekend and performance interludes from popular Uganda artistes, among others.
Business Expo
According to the line-up, the business exhibition centered on UNAA Causes' recently formed Diaspora Entrepreneurship Club will see various entrepreneurs showcase their products and services on the August 31 and September 3.
Participants will enjoy a continental business breakfast and a session on investment and saving by the Diaspora Entrepreneurship club in partnership with Comfort homes, Pearl Marina, KPG, Housing Finance Bank limited and Equity Bank. Ugandans in the diaspora will have a chance to open accounts and save back home.
Washington DC tour
Since the festival is taking place in the US capital Washington D.C, at the Gaylord National Resort Hotel, along the bank of River Potomac - National Harbor Maryland, the participants will be in position tour a number of exciting places.
"Washington D.C is one of the most exciting destinations in the world, besides being USA's political capital, there is plenty to enjoy. A combination of the World's best museums and USA's history are all in the D.C metropolitan area stretching from Washington D.C, Maryland and Virginia," said UNAA Causes chairman, James Serumaga recently.
Fashion weekend
The summer's ultimate event will also host a fashion weekend red carpet experience on September 2, 2018 where renowned models like Brenda Mutura will hit the runway clad in Ugandan labels and cultural outfit to celebrate Uganda's fashion and culture.
The fashion show will also be graced by fashion gurus like Fatuma Nakaziba (Fatuma Asha fashion label), Santa Anzo ( Arapapa director), Anita Beryl Ahikiriza (creative director for Beryl Qouture) and Joram Muira ( model broker of Uganda's fashionistas like Aamito Stacie Lagum).
Charity
UNAA Causes is also running a clean water benefit fund where proceeds from the festival will be channeled to provide safe and clean water to Ugandans back home. The association recently partnered with Miss Uganda pageant. This year's Miss Uganda pageant winner will attend the Uganda festival, just a week after being crowned.
The beauty queen will fundraise for the clean water campaign. Miss Kenya 2016, Evelyn Njambi will also grace the event.
Entertainment
Revelers will be treated to an opening dinner gala on August 31, a fiesta BBQ and Black and white dinner Cruise aboard the Odyssey on September 1 and the grand finale dinner gala which will take place on September 2.
All the events will have performance interlude from various top Ugandan artists that include Afrigo band, Chris Evans, Geo steady, Fille Mutoni, Lydia Jazmine, Nancy Kitaka, Isaiah Katumwa, David Lutalo, DJ Shiru and Nigeria's Rudeboy.
