I will be participating in the race on Sunday and I am calling out all the young girls to come and try to ride a bike", said a young Isabella Blick who rides in the 65cc category.

She was speaking ahead of the fifth round of this season's Motocross scheduled for Sunday, 29, in Busiika.

The race will be a yardstick for up to 32 of the best participants who will make the team travelling to Zambia to compete in the FIM Motocross of All Nations scheduled for August 17 to 19.

The Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) have brought in the experienced South African coach, Neil Van Der Ross who according to FMU President, Dusman Okee will improve the skills of riders especially girls.

Speaking at a media briefing  in Busiika, Okee stressed the importance of the Championship in Zambia .

"We want to take big numbers for experience purposes so that our team can race with the best out there. It's a very expensive venture and we're looking at close to Sh96m. We've received good gestures from our sponsors and expect some good support from the NCS".

We have brought in Neil and the emphasis has been on the girl child. For us as a motorsport federation, we are trying to promote the girl child in different spheres and we believe our girl child team will do the best of the best out there", he concluded.

The fifth round of the National championship is co-sponsored by Mountain Dew, Vision Group under the Urban TV brand, Uganda Lodges, safety Solutions, Cherish Hospital and Molecule Engineering.
