KAVC International receives more support

The sh130m the NSSF has injected into the KAVC International set for August, 3 to 5 will help grow the sport and make sure the tournament attracts some of the region's best teams.

The NSSF deputy managing director, Patrick Ayota unveiled the sponsorship at a press briefing at Workers House on Tuesday.

Increasing the sponsorship package from sh80m to sh130m meant that the team was doing something right.

"We have managed to reach international levels all thanks to the support that NSSF has put into building volleyball. With continued supported from NSSF and dedication of KAVC, we have a vision of playing in international tournaments such as the FIVB Volleyball World Championship, the Olympics and Commonwealth Games." KAVC president Amon Ainebyona said.

"Our club Values accountability. We are trustworthy and do things by the book. They put faith in us and we make sure we do things right. At the end of it all we give it to them to audit as well," KAVC Club technical director Shilla Omuriwe said.

The money will go towards prizes, referees and publicity for the event. Winner of the competition gold medal will walk away with $1000 silver medallists will take $500 and $300 will go to the bronze medallists.

Over 30 teams from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and Burundi will participate in this year's tournament, including defending men's champions APR and women's champions Rwanda Revenue Authority.
