CAF U17 regional qualifiers

Uganda v Ethiopia (Aug 12)

FUFA youth development officer, Bashir Mutyaba, believes that the U17 national team will impress in the forthcoming CAF U17 regional qualifiers that will be held in Tanzania from August 11-26.

"The players to undergo tests have been identified by the technical team and we believe they will do a good job.

Our training programme has been communicated to the key stakeholders. We need to improve on our performance from the one we had in Burundi because only one team will qualify for the AFCON U17 finals," stated Mutyaba after the technical team called up 31 players ahead of the event.

The players will undergo mandatory MRI scans before they are considered to be a part of training sessions under head coach Peter Onen. The verified players will be expected to start training on July 16.

The tests will be conducted to verify the true age of players because it is one of the many requirements before the final squad is submitted.

Uganda will face Ethiopia on August 12 in their opening qualifier.
