ICC Women's World T20 Qualifier

Uganda 78/8 Ireland 79/2

(Ireland win by eight wickets)

It was always mission impossible for Uganda.

The final score would not lie.

Ireland punched their ticket to the semis at the expense of Uganda, thumping the latter by eight wickets on the final day of group action at the ICC Women's World T20 Qualifier in Netherlands earlier today.

Having restricted Kevin Awinos' ladies to 78/8 in their allotted overs, Ireland needed to score just 38 runs to make their place in the semis certain. That they did inside six overs. The rest was academic, with Laura Delany charges completing the chase in another six overs having lost just two wickets

Stephanie Nampiina and Franklin Najjumba led Uganda with 16 and 15 runs respectively but their contribution was one of a face-saving nature after the top and upper middle order had been completely pulverized by Ireland's bowlers.

Uganda lost their first five wickets for a paltry 17 runs, before Immaculate Nakisuuyi stemmed the bleeding with 12 runs off 10 balls.

Ultimately, group leaders Ireland would not be denied another easy win, a third in as many games. Uganda's campaign ended with one win (against Thailand) and two losses.
