According to family sources, Nicholas Ssembatya may have left the country.

A popular socialite in Kampala reportedly into hiding following alleged threats on his life from unknown people.

According to family sources, Nicholas Ssembatya may have left the country fearing for his life.

Family members believe he could have fled to Europe or America after his wife reported him to Police in 2010 following a family dispute in which he was accused of being a queer.

"There were reports of him being a queer. I think he wasn't comfortable any more living in a conservative community," a family member who prefered to keep her identity private said.

According to the Police, a case of missing persons was lodged by Ssembatya's relatives about a week ago. Investigatings into the manner in which Sembatya went missing were ongoing.

Parliament recently passed a law criminalisation the act of being a queer.
