MP Gutmoi injured in accident in Kiryadongo

The accident comes just four days after a nasty accident in which 23 people died in the same district. Early January, another accident in the same place claimed lives of two foreigners.

Erute North Member of Parliament, Charles Angiro Guttmoi is critically injured after he was invplved in accident Wednesday morning. The accident happened at Karuma Bridge in Kiryandongo district.

His vehicle registration number UAU089G collided with a Fuso lorry Reg. No. UAJ730U, at the bride on the Gulu-Kampala Highway. The vehicle in which MP Angiro got an accident now parked at Karuma Police Post.

Angiro reportedly sustained injuries. Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says: "He got fractures on his right leg, was rushed to Kiryandongo Hospital for first aid treatment and later transferred to Kampala," Hakiza added.

The Police went to the scene and removed the MP who was trapped in the vehicle and rush him to Kiryandongo Hospital from where with the help of Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, he was transferred to Mulago Hospital in Kampala.

The accident comes just four days after a nasty accident in which 23 people died in the same district. The injured were airlifted to Kampala for treatment.

 

 Early January, another accident in the same place claimed lives of two foreigners.

 

This has led to calls by different leaders and opinion leaders, including Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, to make stringent rules on road use.

Angiro is the second MP to be involved in an accident this month after Buyaga East MP Eric Musana was involved in an accident earlier this month on Mityana highway. He is still in hospital.
